How to straighten hair with a flat iron
Let’s face it.. We women (and some men!) aren’t happy with the hair texture we’re born with. Thankfully, that’s easy to change. Wavy or curly hair can easily be straightened with a flat iron. This doesn’t take long, and the results that you get will only last until your next hair wash.
However, before you can start straightening your hair, you’re going to need a good flat iron. While the best flat irons on the market are quite costly, there are a number of affordable options available. Decide your budget, then start looking at the flat irons available.
You’ll want to look for a flat iron that has ceramic plates or ceramic coating. This will help to protect your hair from the heat it’s being exposed to. You should also make sure that the flat iron is large enough for your hair. Women with thicker hair will need larger flat irons.
In addition to buying a flat iron, you’ll want to buy some extra products. You’ll want a product that protects your hair from heat, and you may also want a product that makes it easier for your hair to stay straight. Products that contain Keratin are particularly effective. After you air dry your hair (unless you’re using a wet to dry straightener), do the following steps:
Step 1. Plug in your flat iron and allow it to heat to your desired temperature.
Higher heat puts your hair at greater risk of damage, but it can also make the flat iron more effective. Experiment until you find a temperature that works for you. Apply the heat protectant to your hair, and begin straightening.
Step 2. Separate your hair into small sections.
Run the flat iron over the section, moving from the top to the bottom. Repeat the action until the hair has reached the desired level of straightness. Keep straightening small sections all across your head.
Step 3. Use hair clips to help section your hair.
You may want to use clips that separate hair that has been straightened from hair that has yet to be straightened. That will make it easier for you to reach all of your hair, and to properly straighten all of the hair on your head.
Step 4. Once you’ve finished, apply a leave-in conditioner to bring some moisture back to your hair.
It’s a good idea to use a second mirror so that you can check to make sure that the back of your head. It can be difficult to properly straighten hair in this area, and you’ll want to re-examine it to make sure you’ve done a good enough job.
It can be damaging to straighten your hair on a daily basis, so you may want to start washing your hair fewer times a week. You can still keep your hair clean by using a dry shampoo. Only wash your hair if it’s dirty, or if your scalp becomes oily.
It’s easy to straighten your hair with a flat iron. Once you have the right products, you’ll be able to do it in a matter of minutes. You can have exactly the kind of hair you want to have; all you need to do is start straightening it.
