How to eliminate frizz in straight hair
If you’re anything like me, you have a hard time dealing with frizz in your beautiful hair. It’s a problem many people have especially those with long hair, one that’s difficult to get rid of. Luckily, there are a few tips and tricks you can use that will help take care of it. Not every trick will work for every person, of course, but the more tricks you have up your sleeve, the more likely you are to take care of the problem!
The first trick is to use a cool water rinse. After you’re done with your normal shampoo and conditioner routine, use cool water to rinse out your hair. The cooler the water, the better off you’ll be. The idea behind this is that the cold water will shut the cuticles, which will help keep your hair from frizzing up. You might try keeping a large cup of cold water waiting by the shower or bath tub for just this exact purpose.
The second tip is to squeeze your hair instead of rubbing. This may seem like an odd idea for a thing to do with hair, but stay with me. When you rub your hair, you create friction. Friction creates the frizz you’re trying to get rid of. So whenever you’re washing your hair, try gently massaging and squeezing the shampoo and conditioner into it. And after you rinse your hair, try squeezing the water out instead of rubbing it out. This will help you quite a bit when you’re trying to keep that luxurious shine.
Another thing to do is make sure you’re using the right hair products. Even hair products that say anti-frizz might not work. You need to experiment and see what works best for your hair. All hair is created different, after all, and you need the exact product that’s right for you. So don’t feel worried about experimenting and mixing and matching. There are a number of anti-frizz creams, so don’t be afraid of trying some of them out!
Be smart about your hair brush. Different hair brushes are, surprisingly, different! You need to know what kind of brush to use. Don’t use a hair brush that pulls too strongly on your hair. Too much pull and tug can create the frizz you’re trying to avoid. Instead, make sure to use hair brushes that gently slide through your hair, and make sure to brush your hair in long, slow strokes. This will help give your hair lift and shine, and make your hair all the more beautiful.
Make sure you’re using high quality hair tools all around, in point of fact. It can be tempting to purchase the cheapest hair dryer you can find, for example, but that can lead to hair looking ugly and frizzy. Make sure you’re investing in high quality hair dryers, because you’ll need to baby your hair. After all, products that are cheap are often cheaply made, and your hair deserves better.
Frizzy hair often happens due to dehydration. You’ll need to make sure your hair lotions and conditioners are moisturizing. If your conditioner doesn’t say moisturizing, then you may want to look into a different conditioner. Don’t be fooled by the idea that all hair conditioners are moisturizing. That is not the case! Instead, make sure to only buy ones that specifically say they help add moisture to your hair.
It can be upsetting to have to cut your long, luxurious hair. But if your hair is already littered with split ends, it may be a good idea to do so, anyway. The more split ends you have, the worse it’s going to be on your hair. Instead, try to get regular hair trims, and go for a layered look. This will help you keep the split ends down, which will help you keep the frizz out of your hair. If you want to know the best hairstyles for frizzy hair, Total Beauty has a great article on it.
With these helpful tips and tricks in your hand bag, you’re sure to be able to get all the frizz out of your hair. Don’t be discouraged if one trick doesn’t work. Keep trying them all, and keep using what you can. After all, luxurious hair doesn’t happen over night!
